Freedom to Have Fun: Grammy®-winning singer-songwriter Bruce Hornsby and Virginia Arts Festival are bringing back Funhouse Fest, the 3-day music festival that gathers award-winning artists for three days of music-making. Funhouse Fest returns to the lawn of the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg, June 23-25, 2017.

Openings: The Vikings are invading New France this spring as Busch Gardens ® Williamsburg adds InvadR ™ to its collection of world-class coasters. Rise up to be the hero in this epic conquest. Hold on to your viking helmet and feel the wind in your beard on the park’s first-ever wooden coaster. Fly over InvadR’s nine air-time hills, including a 74-foot plunge that reaches speeds of almost 50 miles per hour. Blaze through the tunnels and let the world hear your battle cry as you race through the high-banked turns. Grab your family and run for the hills aboard InvadR.  

The Grand Opening of the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown culminates the museum’s 10-year transformation from the Yorktown Victory Center. Through immersive indoor gallery exhibits with nearly 500 period artifacts, experiential films and interpretive living-history experiences, the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown presents a renewed national perspective on the meaning and impact of the Revolution.

Freedom to have Fun: Cool off at Water Country USA, Virginia’s largest outdoor water park, featuring more than 40 water slides, including newest family thrill ride, Colossal Curl™. Relive sailing’s golden age aboard Yorktown Sailing Charters’ Schooner Alliance and Serenity, offering historic and sunset cruises past dolphins and osprey. Rent kayaks or paddleboards with Patriot Tours & Provisions and paddle by the picturesque shoreline beaches along the beautiful York River.

Freedom to be Curious: Sample authentic Virginia-grown and -made produce at Williamsburg Farmer’s Market. Taste international flavors at Busch Gardens’ Food & Wine Festival (weekends May 26-July 2). Join Yorktown’s annual Blues, Brews & BBQ to listen to the best local blues musicians and sample 26 craft beers (May 6), followed by the second Juried Art Show (May 7).
